Scientific names: Nectandra mollis, Nectanda villosa, Nectandra panamensis

Origin: In Central America from Mexico to the Amazon.

Features

The sapwood is greyish white and not usable. The heartwood is yellowish-brown or greyish-brown with very decorative darker streaks and flames. It is quite heavy, compact and hard. It has a fine texture and varied fibers.

Main uses

Used for exterior carpentry, shipbuilding, floor boards, cutlery and musical instruments.
