La Thuja plicata, commonly called Cedro rosso occidentale or Cedro rosso del Pacifico or giant cedar, and a species of Thuya, an evergreen conifer of the Cupressaceae family native to western North America. It is the emblem tree of British Columbia, and was used extensively by the Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest coast.
Lightweight wood (about 0.35 density) that is easily worked and cut, it is used for coverings, finishes, small furniture, as well as the soundboards of the guitars.
Particularity is the famous dugout Tilikum was built with this wood.
