Thuja plicata, commonly called Western Red Cedar or Pacific Red Cedar or Giant Cedar, it's a kind of Thuya, an evergreen conifer of the Cupressaceae family native to western North America. It is the emblematic tree of British Columbia, and was used extensively by the Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest coast.
Light wood (density about 0.35) that is easily processed and cut, is used for coatings, finishes, small furniture, as well as the soundboards of guitars.
Particularity is the famous Tilikum pirogue was built with this wood.
